Balcombe Fete 2021

Many thanks to everyone who visited our stand. We always welcome the opportunity to talk about the Co-operative, our history, our achievements to-date and how people can help by becoming a REPOWERBalcombe shareholder. Support from our shareholders allows us to install new solar panels locally, giving lower electricity costs for our site hosts whilst giving a reasonable return to shareholders.

Perhaps less well known is our Community Fund, providing another significant benefit to local communities. Balcombe residents may be aware of our contribution towards installing LED lighting in both the Social Club and Bramble Hall. Our most recent beneficiaries of the fund have been the Forest Row Fridge and the Bentswood Hub Community Larder, Haywards Heath, where we helped them obtain new low energy fridges and freezers. We also provided funds for some repurposed laptops for St. Wilfrid’s in Crawley

We had quite a few visitors asking about buying shares. Generally we issue share offers when we have new projects that need funding. Our last share offer was in 2020 to support the solar panel installations at G.W. Bridges, the vehicle breakers yard at Pease Pottage.

We are currently investigating several new sites, but progress has been slower than we would have wished during the pandemic. Once we have a firm commitment for a new installation we’ll be in touch with those who left their contact details with us on the stand. We’ll also make sure any share offers also get posted on the Balcombe facebook pages.
