Our Chiddinglye planning application has been submitted
We are happy to reveal that we have handed in our planning application for the Chiddinglye Farm site in West Hoathly.
This follows the overwhelmingly positive response we received from West Hoathly locals at our community consultation event in May and our delightful visit to a similar-sized solar farm – which Mal from 10:10 has written this fantastic blog on – with Chiddinglye Farm’s next door neighbours in June.
The plan is to install a 5MW ground-mount solar array. This would generate enough power to supply the whole of West Hoathly and Balcombe!
87.5% of those surveyed were either very supportive or supportive of the idea, a fantastic result that shows how supportive the community are of locally-owned renewables.
One local commented:
I think it’s vital that communities generate their own renewable energy. It’s invigorating, imaginative, heart-warming. It’s high time!
The planning application has been developed jointly with REPOWERBalcombe, Low Carbon and Southern Solar.
